Suriya‘s upcoming romantic drama ‘Vishwanath And Sons’ is one of the most-awaited Tamil releases of the year.Directed by Venky Atluri, the film stars Mamitha Baiju as the female lead and is scheduled to arrive in theatres on August 14, 2026.Ahead of the release, the filmmaker has revealed that actress Jyotika played an important role during the script development process by offering valuable feedback after listening to the narration.In a chat with Behindwoods, Venky Atluri said Jyotika was among the first people to hear the complete script.According to the director, her observations proved useful while shaping the final version of the film.He said, “One of the key script narrations for ‘Vishwanath And Sons’ was with Jyotika ma’am. She really enjoyed the story, particularly the first half. Jyotika Ma’am gave a few suggestions for the film which proved to be extremely valuable. I narrated the script to many, but the feedback I got from Jyotika ma’am was very helpful. I’ll mention what all changes she suggested after the film’s release.”
Director confident about audience response
Venky Atluri also spoke about how he expects audiences to react after watching the film.The filmmaker expressed confidence that viewers would leave theatres with a sense of satisfaction.He added that the story would not make audiences feel that it promoted anything morally wrong. Instead, he believes the emotional journey and the film’s message will leave a positive impression on viewers.Venky Atluri also recalled the reaction that followed the announcement of Mamitha Baiju as Suriya’s co-star.The director said he came across memes, reels and Reddit posts that debated the casting choice. However, he explained that at the time, only he and Suriya fully understood why Mamitha had been selected for the role.According to Venky, opinions changed after the film’s teaser was released. He said the teaser helped audiences understand the pairing better, and many people eventually accepted the casting decision.
Suriya’s film reportedly secures major Tamil Nadu deal
Even before its theatrical release, ‘Vishwanath And Sons’ has reportedly achieved a significant milestone in terms of pre-release business.According to Filmibeat, the film’s Tamil Nadu theatrical rights have reportedly been sold on a minimum guarantee (MG) basis for Rs 45 crore.
