Lokesh Kanagaraj‘s acting debut ‘DC’ has crossed the 50 crore mark in India after a strong second Saturday. The movie collected Rs 5.50 crore net on Day 9. According to Sacnilk, this was a 92.3% increase over the Rs 2.86 crore earned on Day 8.The movie recorded 50.1% occupancy across 2,154 shows. The Tamil version contributed Rs 4.05 crore. The Telugu version added Rs 1.42 crore, while the Hindi version earned Rs 3 lakhs.The latest figures have taken the movie’s India net collection to Rs 50.26 crore. Its India gross collection has reached Rs 57.85 crore.
‘DC’ reaches Rs 78.10 crore worldwide
The movie added Rs 1.50 crore from overseas markets on Day 9. Its total overseas gross collection now stands at Rs 20.25 crore. With the India gross included, ‘DC’ has reached a worldwide gross of Rs 78.10 crore.The Tamil version registered 62.78% overall occupancy on Saturday. Morning shows recorded 45.77%. Afternoon screenings performed better at 74.00%. Evening shows registered 56.69%, while night shows recorded 46.69%.The Telugu version registered 41.40% overall occupancy. Morning shows recorded 24.90%. Afternoon occupancy reached 53.40%. Evening and night shows registered 44.70% and 42.60%, respectively.
State-wise figures show strong contributions
Tamil Nadu contributed Rs 2.00 crore on Day 9. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana added Rs 1.75 crore. Kerala also contributed Rs 1.75 crore. Karnataka brought in Rs 75 lakhs, while the rest of India added Rs 13 lakhs.Together, these markets generated a state-wise gross of Rs 6.38 crore for the day. The strong Saturday growth has helped the movie cross the Rs 50 crore India net milestone.
‘GDN’ records Rs 4.76 crore India net
Meanwhile, R. Madhavan‘s ‘GDN’ has recorded a more modest theatrical performance. The movie has collected Rs 4.76 crore in India net collections so far.Its India gross collection stands at Rs 5.35 crore. The Telugu version has contributed Rs 41 lakhs to the overall net total.The Telugu version opened with Rs 7 lakhs on Day 1. It collected Rs 9 lakhs on Day 2 and Rs 10 lakhs on Day 3. The collection then dropped to Rs 3 lakhs on Day 4.Day 5 brought in Rs 4 lakhs. The movie collected Rs 3 lakhs on Day 6 and Rs 5 lakhs on Day 7.
‘Vishwanath and Sons ‘ shows strong Day 2 growth
Suriya and Mamitha Baiju’s ‘Vishwanath and Sons’ has also made a strong impression during its opening weekend.According to Sacnilk, ‘Vishwanath and Sons’ earned Rs 22.25 crore net in India on Day 2.
