It is believed that during this month, the goddess also travels to earth to bless her devotees.Andal is believed to be an incarnation of the goddess Lakshmi. Andal is the name of a young girl, who turned into a saint by falling in love with the Lord (Vishnu). This ceremony is mostly celebrated during Pooram Nakshatra specially in South India. Devotees offer their sincere prayers to Goddess Andal with tremendous devotion and dedication. The Lord Vishnu Temples in Tamil Nadu commemorate the festival of Aadi Pooram, and she is worshipped as Goddess Laxmi.Andal Jayanti is observed at the Shri Ranganatha Temple. Andal Jayanti 2026: Story

According to scripture, once there was a childless saint named Periyalwar of Srivilliputhur. As a devout devotee of Lord Vishnu, he prayed to Lord Ranganatha and Goddess Laxmi for the kid. Goddess Laxmi appeared as a kid, when he eventually found a little girl while plowing the soil. He considered the kid to be a divine gift. She found that girl on the day of Pooram in the month of Aadi that’s why the day is celebrated as Adi Pooram.He never stopped giving the Lord his wholehearted devotion. Her daughter Andal would wear a garland made of Tulsi leaves in secret before presenting it to Shri Ranganatha. Before offering the garland to the Lord, Periyalwar once chastised his daughter for wearing it in secret. He made another garland for Shri Ranganatha and gave it to the Lord, but despite his repeated attempts, it continued to slide off his neck.Following his prayer, Lord Ranganatha revealed to him that Andal is a manifestation of the Goddess Laxmi and that he would only don the garland if Andal would wear it and check it. For Lord Ranganatha, Goddess Andal composed a lot of music. Two famous works are Thiruppavai and Nachiyar Thirumozhi.
