Shahid Kapoor extends support to student protests, asks what happens when youth loses faith in education
Shahid Kapoor backed student protests, questioning what happens when youth loses faith in education. He wrote that students, who spend years answering exams, now deserve to ask questions about their future. He joins Kareena, Alia and others supporting the CJP-led movement against NEET 2026 paper leak and exam irregularities, demanding reforms and Pradhan’s resignation.

Shahid Kapoor took to social media with a post that raised pointed questions about the growing rift between India’s young population and the country’s education system. His remarks come against the backdrop of the ongoing student protests over the NEET-UG paper leak, with demonstrators pushing for reforms to education.

Shahid Kapoor reflects on youth’s fading trust

Taking to Instagram, Shahid reflected on the need to rebuild young people’s trust in education, raising the question of what happens when the generation the system exists to serve starts losing faith in it. “What will happen if the very youth that the education system is made for doesn’t believe in it anymore?” Shahid wrote. He further noted that students, who dedicate years of their lives to answering exam questions in pursuit of their future, are equally entitled to raise questions about that future themselves. “Jinke liye bana hai unka toh pehla haq banta hai. Exam mein sawalon ka jawab dete hain. Aaj sawaal pooch rahe hain. Kyon na poochein?” he wrote. (The system was created for them, so they have the first right to question it. They spend their lives answering questions in exams. Today, they’re asking questions of their own. Why shouldn’t they?)Stressing that young people’s concerns deserve to be heard, Shahid added, “Jaise har saal wo jawaab likhte hain apne future ke liye, aaj apne hi future pe unka yeh sawaal hai. Unhe haq hai (Just as they write answers every year to secure their future, today they are asking questions about that very future. They have every right to do so). The youth of the country. Is the country. And they deserve to believe.”

Shahid Kapoor joins other celebrities backing the movement

With this, Shahid joined a growing list of actors, among them Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Ananya Panday, Salman Khan, Zeenat Aman, and Shabana Azmi, who have thrown their support behind the movement.

Shahid Kapoor’s support comes amid nationwide CJP-led protests

The movement led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) emerged in the wake of the NEET 2026 paper leak and has since grown into a nationwide protest against recurring examination irregularities. Students have been calling for greater transparency and accountability in the exam process, tougher steps to check paper leaks, wide-ranging reforms, compensation for affected candidates, and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The movement peaked with the Chalo Sansad march in Delhi on July 20, when thousands gathered at Jantar Mantar before attempting to march towards Parliament.
