In the previous part, we understood an important question.
That is,
Are jobs going to be lost because of AI or not?
Definitely, some work may change because some tasks can be done by machines, but at the same time, new opportunities can also be created. We should also consider this.
But today we are going to think about a different and very interesting point and question.
How many times does each one of us use AI in our daily everyday life?
Perhaps your answer would be…
That,
“I don’t use AI at all!”
But let’s stop here for a moment.
Perhaps you are using AI and you may not even realize it.
Is that true?
Yes!
Because from the time we wake up in the morning until we go to sleep at night, we use many facilities behind which AI or AI-related technology is working. This is not commonly known to everyone.
So, let’s take a look into our everyday lives.
The Morning Begins and We Are With AI
Suppose the Alarm on our mobile phone rings in the morning.
We immediately pick up our mobile phone.
And
Check the Weather.
Whether it is going to rain today, what the temperature is, how the weather outside is, this information is available on the internet within a few seconds.
We ask a question to a Voice Assistant on our mobile phone.
And
After we speak, the mobile phone quickly understands what we are saying.
This is where our meeting with AI has already begun.
We ask on our mobile phone,
“How is today’s weather?”
And within a few moments, we get an answer.
Earlier, to get such information, we had to depend on the radio, television, newspaper or another person.
But today, that information is available within a few seconds on the mobile phone in our hands.
While Searching on the Google Search Engine
Almost every one of us uses Google or other search engines.
When we have a question, we immediately take out our mobile phone and search on Google.
“What is the travel distance from one place to another?”
“What is today’s fuel and gold price?”
“Which method is good for the studies of school children?”
“How exactly is a particular word said or pronounced in a particular language?”
We ask Google so many human questions.
Modern Search Systems use many types of technology to understand what we are searching for, what information we need and which results may be useful to us.
That is why finding information today has definitely become much easier than before.
How Does YouTube Know Us So Well?
This experience is almost everyone’s experience.
You watched one cricket video.
Then another cricket video.
Then a third.
And suddenly, when you open YouTube…
Cricket everywhere!
Sometimes we even think to ourselves,
“How did it know that I like watching this?”
Behind this, Recommendation Systems and technology that analyzes our usage patterns are working.
Based on signals such as which videos you watch, how long you watch them, what you Skip and what type of content you show interest in, an estimate can be made about what should be shown to you next.
That is why every person does not see exactly the same videos on YouTube.
Social Media and AI
Now let’s come to Facebook, Instagram and other Social Media platforms.
You repeatedly see posts about a particular topic.
You watch some videos.
You like the Content of a particular person or topic.
Gradually, that type of Content starts appearing more in your Feed.
Have you ever thought?
“How do I get the Content I like so quickly?”
Recommendation and Personalization Technology plays a major role in this.
Because of this, every person’s Social Media experience is different.
How Does AI Help Us While Online Shopping?
Suppose you want to buy a new mobile phone.
You visit a Shopping Website.
You look at two or three mobile phones.
After some time, you start seeing similar mobile phones or products related to them.
Sometimes a mobile Cover appears.
Sometimes Earphones.
Sometimes a Charger.
Or
Sometimes another mobile phone.
All this does not happen with us by coincidence.
Instead,
Recommendation Systems based on the way we search and browse can show us relevant products.
This means that even while we are Shopping, technology is working along with us.
Mobile Camera and AI
Today’s mobile Camera does not just take photographs.
While taking a photograph, it can recognize light, faces, objects, colors and other things and try to improve the photograph.
If you take a photograph at night, Processing is done so that it can appear clearer.
A face can be recognized.
In Portrait Mode, an attempt is made to separate the person from the background.
When we look at all this, we realize.
The mobile phone in our hands has become many times smarter than the simple camera of the past.
AI Helps Us in Banking
We send money.
We make Online Payments.
We use ATMs.
We use mobile Banking Apps.
Security is very important in all these processes.
Banks and financial institutions can use various types of technology to identify suspicious transactions, find certain patterns of fraud and notice unusual activities in customers’ transactions.
This can help make Online Banking more secure.
AI Also Helps Us While Translating
Suppose you want to understand a long text in English in Marathi.
Earlier, we had to sit and search for the meaning of every sentence.
Today, with the help of Translation Tools, a translation can be obtained within a few seconds.
From English into other languages.
From other global languages into English.
From English into the language we need.
AI-based tools can be a great help in reducing language difficulties.
But we must remember one thing.
Every translation done by a machine may not be perfect.
Especially in legal, medical or important government documents, it is extremely necessary to check the translation again.
AI in the Hands of Students
Today, students can use AI in many ways.
Understanding a difficult lesson in simple language.
Understanding a mathematics problem.
Finding the meaning of an English word.
Preparing questions.
Creating questions for practice.
Getting information about a particular topic.
But there is one important thing here as well.
An answer given by AI is not the same as studying.
If AI gives an answer and the student simply memorizes it as it is, there will not be much benefit.
Understanding that answer properly in our own language and thinking about it ourselves is more important.
AI in Small Household Tasks Too
The use of AI is not limited only to big companies.
AI can also be used to help with many small tasks at home.
For example:
Preparing a weekly study timetable.
Planning a trip.
Understanding information about a topic in simple language.
Doing translations.
Preparing invitation text for an event.
Finding new ideas.
Preparing study questions for students.
Many such tasks can become easier with the help of AI.
So, How Deeply Has AI Entered Our Lives?
To be honest…
AI has already entered our lives much more than we realize.
We do not always recognize it as “AI.”
Sometimes it is Search.
Sometimes it is Recommendation.
Sometimes it is a Voice Assistant.
Sometimes it is a Translation Tool.
Sometimes it is a Camera Feature.
And now, in the form of Chatbots and Generative AI, it can even communicate directly with us.
But Always Remember One Thing
No matter how far technology advances, humans should not stop thinking for themselves.
AI can help us.
It can save time.
It can increase the speed of our work.
It can give us new ideas.
But human thinking, experience, circumstances and responsibility are important when making the final decision.
Especially in matters related to money, health, law or important decisions, carefully verifying the answer given by AI is always useful.
In Short…
AI is not technology that is going to arrive in some distant future.
AI has become a part of our life today.
We use mobile phones.
We search on Google.
We watch YouTube.
We use Social Media.
We do Online Shopping.
We make Digital Payments.
We translate.
We take photographs.
In all these things, somewhere or another, AI or technology related to AI may be helping us.
Therefore, instead of being afraid of AI, it is necessary to understand it.
Because whether a technology is good or bad for us does not depend only on the technology itself.
It also depends on how we use it.
Today AI is in your mobile phone.
Tomorrow, perhaps, it will become an even bigger part of your work.
Therefore, understand it from today.
And
Learn it slowly.
Keep experimenting from time to time.
And most importantly, use AI, but never avoid thinking for yourself.
