About Gillian Anderson
Gillian Anderson has been active in the entertainment industry for years now and is one of the original members of the band. The band had started as a part of Joy Division, in the wake of the death of that band’s frontman, Ian Curtis. Since the group’s inception, she has been playing with the band and co-writing most of the group’s albums. While talking to The Guardian in an old social media post, she shared just how grateful she was for the opportunity in a 2023 interview and opened up about their connection. She shared, “It seemed like a dream, really. A dream come true. I was a bit daunted because they were obviously songwriting, and I couldn’t play keyboards at all, and I thought I’d just play guitar. But they said, “Well, we’ve got some keyboard parts.” So, I got my sister’s Bontempi organ out. She’s very good at music, was in a brass band, and played clarinet. She could do everything. She’s so jammy. And she’s really good at school as well. I just played guitar—my uncle taught me, and we used to do that on weekends when I stayed with them in Manchester. But I got that Bontempi organ and learned all the songs that New Order had already written before I joined.”New Order is going to go on their South America tour in November; however, since both Gilbert and Morris announced that they would not be performing during the tour, their sets will be performed by guest musicians.
