Transform plain string lights into colourful decorations for garden paths and walkways using nail polish

This is the most important step. Use this idea only with LED lights, which stay cool, and never on incandescent or hot bulbs. Nail polish can’t handle high temperatures, it’s not meant to go beyond about 60°C, and it’s flammable, so heat plus polish is a bad combination. Always unplug the lights while painting, work in a well-ventilated space away from any flame, and let the bulbs cool completely. Some lighting experts advise against nail polish altogether, so treat this as a temporary decoration, not a permanent upgrade.
